For our fourth day of the twelve days of summer kick-off pops I bring you an adult idea that’s sure to help beat the heat this summer! (If we ever get any!) Sangria Sipper pops can be enjoyed on a stick or in a glass topped with fizzy club soda or sparkling proseco if you’re feeling fancy. This recipe also came from my frugality and not wanting to throw out sangria at the end of a fun night. I simply froze the leftover fruity wine in ice molds and popped them out and stored them in a ziplock bag to enjoy whenever the party arises!
Use your favourite sangria recipe (red or white wine) and reserve some of the nicer, smaller fruit to add to your molds too if you like!
For red wine sangria I like to use dark berries like strawberries, blackberries of blueberries, orange slices, a bottle of nice red wine and 1/2 cup or so of an orange liqueur.
For white wine sangria I like to add blackberries, peaches, lemons and limes (and even fresh mint if I have), a good bottle of white wine and 1/2 cup or so of a peach schnapps.
There’s really no rules with sangria though…use whatever fruits you love or are in season and add a bit of flavourful liquor (rum, brandy, etc) and let steep for a time or two before serving chilled and spritzed with soda if you like! Sigh…all I need now is a pool to sip on these by!
